On Thursday night, IDF forces mapped the home of Abd al-Qader Qawasmeh in Hebron in preparation for its demolition. Qawasmeh is linked to the November 16, 2023, shooting attack at the Jerusalem Tunnel Checkpoint, which resulted in the death of IDF soldier Avraham Patna and injuries to six others. Three terrorists involved in the attack were neutralized by security forces after opening fire from a vehicle with duplicate license plates, found to contain additional weapons, axes, and IDF uniforms, suggesting plans for further attacks.
In the aftermath, the IDF also seized weapons, including handguns and an M-16 rifle, and confiscated more arms and ammunition during operations in Deir Samet, part of the Judea Brigade sector. The IDF’s actions are part of a broader effort to disrupt terror networks. This follows the recent arrest of 40 individuals and the seizure of firearms and terror funds across the Central Command area.
Patna, a 20-year-old soldier from Haifa, was killed in the attack, while the terrorists’ vehicle was found to contain evidence of their planned escalation of violence within Jerusalem.
