A soldier was killed in southern Lebanon on Friday, as the IDF continues its ground offensive against Hezbollah. Sgt. Ori Nisanovich, 21, of the Golani Brigade, died in an exchange of fire with a Hezbollah gunman in a village near the border. His death brings the IDF’s toll in the conflict to 44.
Hezbollah launched multiple rocket barrages at northern Israel on Saturday, targeting cities like Haifa and Nahariya. A rocket hit a synagogue in Haifa, causing significant damage, while other strikes injured five people seeking shelter. Drones also infiltrated Israeli airspace, prompting several intercepts by the IDF.
The IDF’s Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, reiterated Israel’s commitment to defeating Hezbollah, aiming to secure the safe return of displaced northern residents. On the ground, Israeli forces reportedly advanced to their deepest position in southern Lebanon, capturing a strategic hill in the village of Shama before withdrawing after heavy fighting.
Meanwhile, airstrikes continued on Hezbollah targets in southern Beirut and Tyre, with multiple sites destroyed. The conflict, ongoing since October, has resulted in significant casualties, with Hezbollah’s military infrastructure heavily targeted by Israeli forces.
