A major fire broke out at a boarding school in Jerusalem on Monday, leaving three young men aged 18-25 seriously injured and dozens more suffering from moderate to light injuries. Magen David Adom teams responded, reporting approximately 40 injured at the scene. Twelve firefighting teams were dispatched to combat the blaze, which had spread to the building’s top floor.

The school, primarily an educational institution for girls, was partially evacuated, with 32 girls rescued from smoke-filled areas. Emergency responders reported that all victims were conscious but had inhaled smoke, requiring urgent medical attention. Paramedics provided first aid before evacuating them to nearby hospitals.

Jerusalem Fire and Rescue Commander Shmulik Friedman later confirmed the fire originated in an electrical cupboard, though the exact cause remains under investigation. One neighbor described hearing shouts of “Fire, fire” before citizens arrived to help, using cutting tools to break windows.

The fire prompted a swift emergency response, with authorities working to assess the damage and ensure the safety of all those affected.
