This popular Israeli café established their first location in 1953 and has evolved into what is now a world-renowned restaurant that has opened locations all across the globe. The first Café Rimon was opened in 1953, only a short distance from the famed Ben Yehuda street, and has since evolved into a world-famous chain with restaurants in countries across the globe.
The Israeli restaurant chain Café Rimon was originally a meat-based establishment with its first branch opening in the city of Haifa. The company changed to dairy in 1983 and opened a second site in Jerusalem in 2007. This new branch is called as the Rimon Bistro which was designated to be the meat-based establishment of the owners, while the original branch remained a dairy-focused eatery.
Despite being the target of repeated terror attacks, the restaurant’s owner, Ronen Rimon, proudly employs both Jews and Arabs. In 2002, the Jerusalem Police and the Shin Bet detained three East Jerusalem residents for allegedly plotting to poison Café Rimon clients.
However, despite the tragic incidents in the famous Cafe, people keeps coming back to taste the dairy products of Café Rimon.
