Jerusalem faced a significant security breach on Sunday when a drone targeted an antenna farm near Yavne, owned by Bezeq telecom. The attack caused damage to the site, but no injuries were reported. Images shared on social media showed smoke rising from the area after the drone was intercepted by Israel’s defense forces.
The incident, which occurred in the morning, triggered alarms across Israel’s Lachish and Shefela regions. The Israeli Air Force successfully intercepted the drone, which had been launched from the east. However, shrapnel from the interception ignited a wildfire in Moshav Kfar HaNagid, prompting a quick response from firefighting teams.
Yavne’s mayor, Roei Gabay, called the event unprecedented, marking the first time a UAV had reached the area. The attack adds to growing regional tensions, recalling earlier threats by Hezbollah against nearby Ashdod. While the situation was contained without casualties, the attack highlights the ongoing security challenges Israel faces in the region.
