Israeli police and the Shin Bet security agency announced the December 25 arrest of a 32-year-old East Jerusalem resident from Issawiya on suspicion of connections with Hezbollah and other terror groups. The suspect, whose name was not disclosed, was interrogated by the Shin Bet.
Investigators revealed that the individual had maintained contact with Hezbollah operatives for years, participating in an online group called the “Resistance Axis.” He also shared sensitive photographs and information with operatives in East Jerusalem and abroad, including a female Hezbollah agent, previously identified in other cases as “Dania.”
Additionally, the suspect traveled to Jenin in the West Bank to meet with terror operatives and was photographed with their weapons. An indictment against him is anticipated.
The arrest is part of a broader trend of Iranian-backed Hezbollah recruiting Israeli residents for espionage and attacks. In December, two Jerusalem men were indicted for similar offenses, and another was arrested for alleged collaboration with Iran to plan an attack.
Hezbollah’s activities have intensified since October 2023, when the Gaza war erupted. Supported by Iran, Hezbollah launched attacks from Lebanon, escalating into a full-scale conflict before a ceasefire in November 2024. Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas remain committed to Israel’s destruction.
