The Israel Defense Forces reported a series of security incidents over the weekend along the Gaza border, including explosive attacks and attempted infiltrations, amid rising tensions during a fragile ceasefire.

On Saturday, two Israeli reserve soldiers were lightly wounded when an explosive device detonated as they worked to clear terror infrastructure in southern Gaza. The soldiers were evacuated to a hospital, and their families were notified.

In a separate incident, the IDF said it killed a Palestinian operative who crossed the ceasefire line in northern Gaza and approached Israeli troops “in a way that posed an immediate threat.” The Israeli Air Force carried out the strike to neutralize the suspect. Palestinian media identified the individual as Mohammed Sabri Al-Adham, 19.

Another attempted breach occurred a day earlier in southern Gaza, where two operatives crossed the ceasefire line toward forces from the 7th Armored Brigade. One of the suspects was killed, according to the military.

Israel says such incidents represent repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement by Hamas and related terror groups. The IDF maintains that it acts to prevent immediate threats to soldiers and nearby communities.

Hamas claims that more than 70,000 people in Gaza have been killed or are presumed dead since the start of the war, figures that cannot be independently verified and do not distinguish between civilians and combatants. Israel states that it has killed more than 22,000 militants during fighting in Gaza and another 1,600 during the October 7 attack inside Israel.

Israel’s military death toll in the Gaza campaign stands at 476, including soldiers, police officers, and civilian contractors.
