Iran announced Monday that it has ceased its missile attacks on Israel — but issued a sharp warning that any continued Israeli military action in Lebanon would trigger a far more severe response.

“The cessation of armed forces operations is announced,” said Iran’s emergency military command, Khatam al-Anbiya, in a statement carried by state media.

The announcement left the door open for renewed escalation, stating that if “aggression and acts of malice continue, including in southern Lebanon, much more severe and crushing measures than before will be forthcoming.”

The pause comes after Iran fired dozens of ballistic missiles at Israel since Sunday night in retaliation for an Israeli strike on Hezbollah’s Beirut headquarters — and after Israel struck Iranian air defense systems and a missile-component production facility overnight. Diplomatic efforts across the region intensified Monday to prevent a full return to war.
