Israel will send a delegation to Qatar on Monday to continue negotiations on extending the Gaza ceasefire and securing the release of hostages, the Prime Minister’s Office announced. The delegation includes hostage affairs envoy Gal Hirsch, senior Shin Bet official “M.,” and Netanyahu’s adviser Ophir Falk.

The talks follow unconfirmed reports from Arabic media suggesting Hamas is open to extending the ceasefire during Ramadan, which ends on March 29. While Hamas claims “positive indicators” exist for a second-phase deal, Israeli officials have not confirmed any progress.

Reports indicate Hamas may agree to release hostages in exchange for a temporary ceasefire extension, with one Saudi outlet suggesting a two-month extension in return for the release of some living hostages. However, details remain unclear.

Israel has pushed to extend the current ceasefire to secure further hostage releases without committing to a full military withdrawal from Gaza. Hamas has rejected this, demanding a permanent end to the war in exchange for all remaining hostages. As of now, 59 hostages remain in Gaza, with up to 24 believed to be alive.

Meanwhile, tensions have emerged between Israel and the U.S. after reports surfaced that Washington held direct talks with Hamas regarding the release of American hostages. Israeli officials were reportedly frustrated by the discussions happening without Israel’s direct involvement.

Prime Minister Netanyahu will meet with his cabinet on Sunday to discuss the next steps. The situation remains uncertain as negotiations continue.
