Israeli security forces recently thwarted a Hamas-planned shooting and bombing attack in the West Bank, allegedly directed and funded by members of the terror group in Turkey, the Shin Bet announced.
Between January and February, six Hamas operatives from Nablus were arrested and interrogated by the Shin Bet and Israeli police. Authorities say the cell received tens of thousands of dollars to target security forces and other sites in the region.
During the January 29 arrests of three suspects, Israeli forces seized an assault rifle and $40,000 in cash. Another suspect was found with $20,000 the same day. Additional arrests followed.
Following the interrogation of one suspect, troops discovered and neutralized an explosive device planted near the Gitai Avisar Junction.
The names of the suspects have not been released, but indictments are expected in the coming weeks.
