The Israeli military is investigating the failure to intercept a missile fired by Yemen’s Houthi rebels that struck Tel Aviv early Saturday. The ballistic missile, which landed in a residential playground, injured 16 people with glass shards.
While the investigation is ongoing, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that some operational changes have already been made in response, particularly regarding missile interception and early warning systems. However, due to security concerns, no further details about defense measures or the alert system were disclosed.
The Houthis, who have repeatedly launched drones and missiles at Israel in what they call “acts of solidarity” with Palestinians in Gaza, have escalated their attacks in recent months. This latest strike highlights ongoing vulnerabilities in the region’s defense against missile threats.
Israel continues to strengthen its defense protocols as part of its efforts to minimize civilian casualties in the face of increasing hostilities from regional actors.
