Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not admit wrongdoing in exchange for a presidential pardon related to his ongoing corruption trial, Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs said Monday in an interview with Kol Berama radio.

“There is a higher chance of the sun not rising in the morning,” Fuchs declared, than Netanyahu confessing to crimes he says he did not commit. The statement follows Netanyahu’s letter to President Isaac Herzog requesting that his trial be canceled, sparking speculation he might be open to concessions.

Fuchs dismissed speculation that Netanyahu would halt judicial-reform legislation as part of a pardon arrangement, stressing: “There is no deal and no intention for Netanyahu to get a pardon in return for stopping the judicial reform.”

Netanyahu’s trial—which includes charges of fraud, breach of trust, and bribery—has dragged on for years and remains one of Israel’s most polarizing political issues.
