Newly recovered footage screened on Israel’s Channel 12 provides the most extensive look yet at the conditions endured by six Israeli hostages murdered by Hamas in August 2024.
The videos — obtained by the IDF from Gaza — show Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Eden Yerushalmi, Ori Danino, Alex Lobanov, Carmel Gat, and Almog Sarusi in underground tunnels during late 2023. While Hamas often released staged propaganda clips during the war, this material appears more candid, documenting daily life in captivity.
The IDF reportedly recovered hours of footage that Hamas never released. The six hostages were murdered in Rafah’s Tel Sultan neighborhood on August 29, 2024, and their bodies were discovered two days later by Israeli forces.
Though other unpublished footage of hostages has surfaced during the war, none has provided as detailed a window into the months following their abduction on October 7.
