Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly urged Iran to agree to a nuclear deal prohibiting uranium enrichment, hoping to smooth negotiations with the U.S. According to Axios, Putin suggested a “zero enrichment” policy, which Iran flatly rejected.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s stance, insisting any new deal must respect Iran’s right to enrich uranium under the Non-Proliferation Treaty. He also said any upcoming talks would focus solely on nuclear activities—not missiles or military programs—and stressed that Iran will review IAEA monitoring requests on a case-by-case basis.

Despite tensions, Iran has signaled interest in resuming nuclear talks, paused during the recent Israel-Iran war. U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed talks may resume within the week. However, former President Trump voiced skepticism about the talks’ value, though he agreed to attend at Iran’s request.
