Israel’s Shin Bet security agency released its annual report on Tuesday, revealing a significant increase in security threats across multiple fronts. In the Gaza Strip, the agency arrested 1,350 individuals, including 40 high-ranking commanders and 165 relatives of terrorist leaders. Among those detained, 45 are suspected of involvement in the October 2023 terrorist massacres, and many are believed to have information about hostages.
In Lebanon, Shin Bet eliminated 25 senior officials from Palestinian terrorist organizations, including Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. In the West Bank and Jerusalem, the agency foiled 1,040 attacks, including 689 shootings, and conducted ten major operations in key locations like Jenin and Nablus.
The Iranian threat also escalated, with a 400% increase in espionage cases, and thirteen major operations involving Israeli collaborators with Iranian intelligence. Cyberattacks against Israel also spiked, with over 700 thwarted attempts. Additionally, twenty Israeli Arab terrorist cells were dismantled, five of which were planning bomb attacks.
The report underscores a year of heightened and diversified security challenges for Israel across multiple domains.
