The Jerusalem Biblical Zoo started as a humble animal corner in 1940 on the street of Rabbi Kook in the heart of Jerusalem. According to history, this was the first wildlife to be established in the ancient world.

Aharon Shuvlov is the person behind the establishment of the Biblical Zoo. He is a zoology professor in the campus of Mount Scopus at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Professor Shulov was also one of the founders and first president of the Israel Zoological Society.

Miller-Blum & Associates Landscape Architects created and planned the zoo’s stunning construction. Moriah Jerusalem Development Corporation then made the development possible.
