An audio leak of Fatah officials despairing that the Palestinian Authority (PA) is “finished” confirms what Israelis have long known: the PA is a corrupt, collapsing regime propped up by Western money and endless lies.
The PA can’t even pay salaries or open schools. More than 600,000 children were locked out of classrooms this month because teachers haven’t been paid. Civil servants receive half-salaries at best, while the PA elite live in luxury. Meanwhile, Israel is blamed for withholding funds—funds the PA routinely diverts to terrorists’ families through “pay-for-slay” stipends.
Even Washington is worried the PA might collapse, warning of unrest in Judea and Samaria. But the truth is simple: the PA’s failure isn’t Israel’s fault. It is the result of decades of corruption, incitement, and refusal to build a real economy. Palestinian leaders prefer blaming Jews to fixing their society.
Israelis know the cost of this dysfunction. Just days ago, two West Bank terrorists murdered six Israelis at a bus stop in Jerusalem. This is the fruit of PA corruption and brainwashing.
The PA’s collapse should not frighten Israel—it should liberate us from illusions. A regime that educates children to hate Jews and pays salaries to terrorists is not a peace partner. The world must stop funding corruption and terror. The Jewish state will continue to defend its citizens—with or without the PA.
