Two IDF soldiers were lightly wounded Tuesday when their tank was hit by an explosive device in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis area. The troops were taken to a hospital and are in stable condition.
The explosion occurred around 12:30 p.m., during operations to clear the area of hidden threats. An initial investigation found no terrorists present when the bomb was detonated, and the IDF is probing when the device was planted.
Following the attack, the IDF struck several targets believed to pose an ongoing threat. The incident came just two days after the ceasefire was tested by an assault in Rafah, where two Israeli soldiers were killed by RPG fire from a Hamas tunnel.
The IDF responded with airstrikes on 20 targets, which Hamas claimed killed 45 people—though those figures have not been independently verified. Despite ongoing tension, Israeli forces say they remain committed to maintaining security and ensuring the ceasefire terms are upheld.
