Knesset in Jerusalem

The Knesset is the unicameral legislature of Israel and is seated in Jerusalem. It can enact laws, elect the President and Prime Minister, approve the cabinet, and dissolve itself and call new elections. The body consists of 120 members who are elected from a nationwide party list in a general election for a term of four years, though the president may dissolve it at any time for reasons of preemptive war or national emergency.

As the highest decision-making body in Israeli law, the Knesset is sovereign and has complete control over all branches of the Israeli Government. This includes checks and balances with the Courts and Local Governments

The Knesset is a legislative body in the government of Israel that has a few different functions and responsibilities. They are able to pass all laws which are then signed into action, they elect the president and prime minister who carry out their duties, they approve the cabinet and supervise their work, and they also elect the state comptroller.

It has the power to remove the president and the state comptroller from office and to call new elections. The Knesset may be dissolved by the prime minister. It has authority in its current composition until an election is held. The Knesset met in Givat Ram.
