Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been included in Time magazine’s 2026 list of the 100 most influential people in the world — his fifth appearance on the list.

Time’s write-up acknowledged that Netanyahu bore responsibility for “the worst security failure in his country’s history” — the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack — but noted his subsequent political comeback. Israel’s military campaigns in Lebanon and Iran, along with the release of Gaza hostages, have strengthened his domestic standing, the magazine said, even as ongoing conflicts and West Bank settlement expansion risk deepening international isolation and eroding support among younger Americans.

Other political figures on the list include President Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, military chief Dan Caine, envoy Steve Witkoff, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, and Minnesota Governor Jacob Frey. The entry on Mamdani noted that his relationship with the Jewish community would test his ability to translate ideas into governance.
