IDF Closes In on Hezbollah Stronghold of Bint Jbeil

The IDF announced Monday it has nearly completed the capture of Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon, killing more than 100 Hezbollah operatives in the process. The town is considered a symbol of Hezbollah power; during the Second Lebanon War in 2006, the IDF battled there but failed to capture it fully.

During the operation, troops captured Bint Jbeil’s stadium, where former Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah had famously declared Israel “weaker than a spider web” in 2000. A military official said the operation is expected to conclude within several more days.
