The United States launched new airstrikes on Yemen, targeting Houthi-controlled areas in response to threats against international shipping, according to the Houthis’ Al Masirah TV.

On Monday, strikes hit the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah and Al Jawf governorate, north of Sanaa. At least 53 people, including five children and two women, were killed, while 98 others were injured, Houthi health ministry spokesperson Anees Alsbahi said on X.

This marks the largest U.S. military operation in the Middle East since President Donald Trump’s tenure. A U.S. official told Reuters the strikes may continue for weeks as Washington increases pressure on Iran amid nuclear negotiations.
