Iran has offered the United States a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the ongoing war, while pushing nuclear negotiations to a later stage, according to an Axios report citing U.S. and regional officials. The proposal was relayed through Pakistani mediators after planned weekend talks in Islamabad collapsed when the Trump administration pulled its delegation at the last minute.

Oil prices climbed over 1% Monday on the uncertainty, with Brent crude reaching $106.68 a barrel. President Trump is expected to review the proposal with his national security team. Israel, not party to the Pakistan talks, has insisted any deal must address Iran’s nuclear program, as have senior Trump officials. Iran currently holds 440 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60% purity — a short technical step from weapons-grade material.
