President Donald Trump triggered global alarm Monday night by calling for the immediate evacuation of Tehran, citing Iran’s failure to accept a proposed nuclear agreement. His post on Truth Social came as the Israel-Iran conflict entered its fifth day, with rising casualties and widespread destruction.

“Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign… Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!” Trump posted, without clarifying the urgency behind the evacuation call.

Shortly afterward, Trump abruptly left the G7 Summit in Canada, returning to Washington to meet with advisers. Reports emerged suggesting the U.S. was joining Israel’s military campaign, but the White House denied it. “American forces remain in a defensive posture,” said Deputy Communications Director Alex Pfeiffer.

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Trump’s departure from the summit, saying it could help advance U.S.-proposed ceasefire talks. Behind the scenes, U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Trump has reportedly encouraged direct diplomacy with Tehran.

Meanwhile, the conflict is escalating. Israel bombed Iranian nuclear and media infrastructure on Monday, reportedly destroying thousands of centrifuges at the Natanz facility. Iran claims 224 deaths in five days; Israel reports 24 civilian deaths and mass evacuations.

Iranian sources told Reuters they’ve asked regional powers to press the U.S. for a ceasefire, offering nuclear flexibility in return. “If President Trump is serious about diplomacy, now is the time,” said Araghchi.

Despite heavy damage, Iran insists its nuclear program is peaceful. Trump remains firm: “Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon,” he said at the G7. “A deal will be signed—or something will happen.”

As airspace closes and international concern deepens, the fate of the region hangs in the balance.
