Kibbutz Be’eri is mourning the loss of Dror Or, whose body was returned to Israel from Gaza, bringing closure after more than a year of anguish. Or, a devoted father of three and respected cheesemaker, was among the hostages taken on October 7.
The community described Or as a loving father to Yaheli, Noam, and Alma, and a husband to the late Yonat. His siblings Elad and Dana were active in advocating for his release.
The Hostages and Missing Families Forum remembered him as deeply involved in his family’s life and widely admired for his craft at the Be’eri Dairy, where he was one of the three artisans behind the kibbutz’s renowned handmade cheeses.
This marks a painful milestone: for the first time since October 7, Kibbutz Be’eri has no remaining hostages in Gaza. Or will be buried in the community he cherished — the lands of Be’eri that shaped his life and work.
