Cuban rapper Chocolate MC (Yosvanis Sierra Hernández) was convicted Wednesday on charges that he solicited inmates to murder a man accused of killing fellow artist El Taiger. A Miami-Dade jury deliberated briefly before finding him guilty of written threats and soliciting first-degree murder.
Prosecutors said that in December 2024, Sierra Hernández threatened Damián Valdés Galloso, who stands accused of murdering Cuban reggaeton star José Manuel “El Taiger” Carbajal Zaldívar. They alleged he used electronic communications to urge inmates inside the Miami-Dade County jail system to attack or kill Valdés Galloso.
The formal indictment accused the rapper of conspiring digitally to organize the hit. The prosecution framed the case as one involving deliberate planning and the recruitment of multiple inmates.
The conviction adds to the rapper’s mounting legal troubles. In June, surveillance video captured him allegedly pointing a gun at a fan in Opa-locka and fleeing in the victim’s car — a case that remains pending.
Sierra Hernández now faces up to 15 years in prison.
