Ali Larijani, a senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is scheduled to visit Oman on Tuesday, according to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency.

Larijani will travel with a delegation and meet with senior Omani officials to discuss regional and international developments, as well as bilateral cooperation. The visit comes amid renewed diplomatic activity following indirect talks between American and Iranian officials in Oman last week.

Those discussions took place against a backdrop of rising tensions, including a U.S. naval buildup near Iran and repeated warnings from Tehran that it would respond forcefully to any attack. Oman has long served as a discreet intermediary between Iran and Western powers, particularly during periods of strained relations.

Tasnim reported that Larijani’s meetings will focus on recent regional dynamics, though details regarding the next round of talks between Tehran and Washington have not yet been announced.

Larijani, a former speaker of Iran’s parliament and current adviser on strategic matters, remains a key figure in Iran’s political establishment. His visit is widely seen as a signal that diplomatic channels remain open, even as tensions persist across the region.

Observers say Oman’s role as a neutral facilitator could prove critical in preventing further escalation, particularly as both sides weigh their next steps in an increasingly volatile Middle East.
