U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Iran early Sunday, threatening military retaliation “never seen before” after Tehran launched a second day of missile attacks against Israel following the killing of Iran’s supreme leader.

The Israeli military confirmed it carried out a large-scale strike in Tehran that killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several senior officials, marking a dramatic escalation in the conflict. In response, Iran fired multiple waves of ballistic missiles at Israel, triggering air raid sirens across much of the country.

While most missiles were intercepted, one projectile struck near a residential building in Tel Aviv, killing a woman and injuring dozens. Israeli officials said the victim was a foreign caregiver who was unable to reach shelter in time.

Trump said Iran would face devastating consequences if attacks continued, while Iranian leaders vowed further retaliation against Israel and U.S. military assets in the region. Iran claimed it targeted Israeli military facilities and U.S. bases across the Middle East.

Israeli forces reported striking dozens of targets in Iran, including missile systems and air defenses, and said they had established air superiority over Tehran. Defense officials said more than 1,200 munitions were dropped in a single day.

Explosions were reported in several regional capitals, including Tehran, Baghdad, and Gulf cities hosting U.S. forces. Airspace across multiple countries was closed, grounding flights and disrupting international travel.

Despite the scale of the fighting, Israeli emergency services reported relatively few injuries outside of the Tel Aviv strike.
