President Donald Trump said Monday he believes the nearly two-year Gaza war will reach a “conclusive ending” within two to three weeks, though he provided few details.
His comments come as Israel presses ahead with plans to seize Gaza City, despite Hamas recently accepting a ceasefire proposal involving a temporary truce and hostage exchange. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected a pause, saying military operations remain the priority.
Pressure inside Israel is growing, with hostage families and some opposition leaders urging Netanyahu to take the deal. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said any resolution must end Hamas’ rule in Gaza.
Trump suggested U.S. diplomacy is pushing both sides but admitted the conflict is “hard to end” given its deep roots. He cited famine and mounting casualties in Gaza as reasons the war must conclude soon, though Israel insists defeating Hamas remains essential.
